To all my international followers: Lately I have been involved in this amazing project called “På stengrunn”, initiated in 1973 by a handful of Norway’s finest folk musicians. The first album has become a cult classic, and has also become one of my favourite records – even though my parents hadn’t even met when it was released 46 years ago.

Rudolf Nilsen (1901-1929) was a Norwegian working class poet, who grew up on the east end of the newly industrialised Oslo. There, in the grey smoke from the factory chimneys, he wrote some of the most beautiful poems of the early 20th century.

In 1973, a group of young musicians got together and recorded an album with newly written melodies to Rudolf Nilsen’s poetry. Yesterday, 46 years later, the follow-up was released. The album is called “På gjensyn”, and I have been so lucky to be part of it with three of my melodies. I’m also playing the accordion for the first time in many years. 🎶

Today we are playing two nearly sold-out release concerts at the historical venue of Cosmopolite in Oslo. Rudolf himself wrote the inauguration speech for the house when it was opened to the public almost a hundred years ago.
